Why?

From Paul: This song was written while on my way to Louisiana to help with the cleanup from Hurricane Katrina. A group from my church left at 3:00am, and there were 14 hours to kill. I was inspired by my daughter Hannah to write this, as she was very upset that I was leaving, even though it was just for the weekend. It made me think how fragile our children are when faced with someone leaving, because sometimes they don't understand that it may just be for a short time.

All Wrongs Avenged!

Tears welled up in her eyes
And traveled down her cheeks.
Today’s the day she realized
It’s time for me to go.
I held her in my arms
A gentle kiss above her brow.
I would never do her harm
But it was time for me to go.
I tried to reassure her everything would be alright
But all she did was hold me tight and said…

Chorus
Why do you have to go?
Why do you have to leave?
Why can’t you stay with me
A little longer?
Why do you have to go?
Why do you have to leave?
Why can’t you stay with me
A little longer?

She didn’t understand
This is something I must do
And stared out through the window
She had to see me go
I pulled out from the driveway
So another day could start
It broke my heart to look and see
How she had to see me go
I called her later on to see if she had done alright
I had to fight my own tears when she said…

Chorus

It’s never easy to say goodbye
To the ones you leave behind
Even if its for the shortest time
It can seem like the longest while

The working day has ended
I leave it all behind
Another second I won’t lend
Time to go back home
I know she’s waiting for me
At the same place everyday
At the window where I left her
It’s time to go back home
And as I sit and hold
My precious daughter to me dear
Before she has to go to bed I whisper in her ear

Chorus
