If I Could Take It All Away

From Paul: This is the first song that I wrote when we found out that my son was diagnosed with cancer. I remember getting down on my knees in my bedroom and pleading to Heavenly Father to give it to me. At the time I wasn't convinced that there was good to come from my son's cancer. But what I did know is that when my son closed his eyes to sleep and open them to wake, his father would be there. But I still wish it had been me.

All Wrongs Avenged!

Close your eyes.
Go to sleep
And dream about the boy you want to be.
It’s all right
Cause when you wake
I’ll be right here by your side.
Don’t be afraid
Of what you hear.
Don’t give in to the pain that feeds your fears.
No other way
Can make it leave,
So you can fly another day.
I’ll lift you up and hold you in my arms
And then begin to pray…

Chorus
If I could take it all away
If I could take it all away
If I could take it all away
I would give everything
If I could take it all away

I can’t explain
Why it was you.
I can’t make sense of what your going through.
This human game
Is so unfair.
And you will never be the same.

But who you are
And who you’ll be
Is so much more that I’ll ever conceive.
You are a star
Who’s day awaits
But what a life you’ve lived so far.
I’ll lift you up and hold you in my arms
And then begin to pray.

Chorus

Holding on to life, you can see the light in him.
Open up your heart, you can let the light come in.
Only through the dark can you know the light exists.
His light exists.

Close your eyes.
Go to sleep
And dream about the boy you want to be.
It’s all right
Cause when you wake
I’ll be right here by your side.
To lift you up and hold you in my arms
And then begin to pray
