Diagonal View

From Paul: This is a song that stemmed from my disappointment with the direction the television industry is taking. It used to be that you could turn on your TV and actually be entertained, inspired, decompressed and use your imagination. Today, shows have become so graphic and vulgar that it is unbearable to watch.

All Wrongs Avenged!

You used to be so wonderful
My window to the world
I used to watch you endlessly
Your fantasy’s unfurled
I looked to you to show me how
A man should lead his life
Like the strongest drug you offered me
A break from daily strife

I was
Looking at you
Through my diagonal view
Believing the visions I would see
Is this the truth
Through my diagonal view
Are you hiding behind the scenes
Are you hiding what’s real from me
So I can be just like you
With my diagonal view

Can’t put my finger on the day
You put me on the shelf
You stopped caring ‘bout the things you’d say
To satisfy yourself
And now the image that you displayed
Of what you wanted me to see
Has distorted my perception of
What reality should be

Chorus

You used to be so wonderful
Our window to the world
We used to watch you endlessly
Your fantasy’s unfurled
It’s too late to change what’s happened now
It’s too late for me and you
But there’s still a chance for you to be
The one I thought I knew
Because they’re looking at you
Through their diagonal view
And not really sure who they see
Give them the truth
Through their diagonal view
Stop hiding behind the scenes
Give them something they can believe
And they will be here for you
Through their diagonal view
