Dear Mr. President

From Paul: OK, perhaps this is a bit more political than usual for me. But I got the idea of writing this song when I was listening to ESPN and the discussion of the Jimmy V foundation. In ten years they have only raised $10 million or so. What's that all about? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate their efforts and the support that the public has given, but our country spends $10 million on unnecessary things practically everyday (Does the war in Iraq ring a bell?). But who do we blame for the state of our union, the politicians or the people that put them there?

All Wrongs Avenged!

Dear Mr. President
I am sleeping in a car tonight
Gets cold here in Kentucky in December.
Please remember me in your prayers.
I know that you could help me
Could you send a little heat?
Perhaps some clothes that fit me.
Or some food so we can eat.
But you see, my daddy’s out of work these days
They shut the factory down.
Sent the jobs to a foreign land.
Closed up half our town.
Dear Mr. President, Is there anything you can do.

Chorus
Dear Child,
I’m only one man
What more can I do?
It’s the people who put me here.
And it’s them that I answer to

Dear Mr. President,
I hope that you are feeling fine.
I’m not doing well the doctors say.
I’m so weak I can hardly stay awake.
I know that you could help me
With the treatments that I need
They say that it could save me
Before I die from this disease
But you see, the price is too expensive
Insurance just won’t give
I don’t know what all that means
But I just want to live.
Dear Mr. President, is there anything you can do?

Chorus

If you don’t like the state of the union
And are looking for a place to place the blame
Look in the mirror and point your finger
And then call out your own name

Dear Mr. President
Don’t mean to take your time
I only have a moment til he is home
Then, he’ll have me all alone.
I know that you could help me
With a place to hide away
A place where he can’t hurt me
There has go to be a way
But you see, the shelter lost it’s funding
And momma’s just to weak
She’s afraid he’ll get her too
If she tries to intercede
Dear Mr. President, is there anything you can do?
